Pet Poison Prevention Month is observed every March to raise awareness about the dangers of poisoning to pets and how to prevent it.

Here are some key tips for preventing pet poisoning:

👀Toxic Foods: Many foods we eat daily can be dangerous to pets, including chocolate, grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, alcohol, and certain artificial sweeteners like xylitol.

👀Household Chemicals: Be mindful of cleaning products, fertilizers, pesticides, and plants that could be toxic. Keep them out of reach and store them securely.

👀Medications: Never give pets human medications unless directed by a vet. Even over-the-counter drugs like painkillers or vitamins can be harmful.

👀Plant Safety: Many common plants (e.g., lilies, azaleas, poinsettias, bulbs) are toxic to pets. Know which plants are safe for your home and garden.

👀Pet-proofing Your Home: Be mindful of small objects or foods that pets might ingest. Keep toxic items in secure cabinets or drawers.

✨KNOW THE SYMPTOMS: Common signs of poisoning in pets include drooling, vomiting, diarrhoea, lethargy, seizures, or changes in behaviour. If you suspect your pet has ingested something toxic, contact a vet or an emergency animal poison hotline immediately.

I've just spent the last two days at Crufts indulging in some serious shopping for *many* grooming supplies (shh, don’t tell the other half! 😉) and watching some incredible groomers in action. ✂️✨ See the pictures from the two days.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sue Williamson, the amazing founder of Taking the Grrr Out of Grooming Your Dogs, and we had a great discussion about how to best work with dogs that struggle with being groomed. I'm one of the few Approved Groomers for Taking the Grrr Out of Grooming Your Dogs—such an honour! 🎉 This program is all about making grooming a positive experience for both dogs and their owners, and I'm thrilled to be part of it. 🐶💙

One of the most heart-warming experiences was discovering the amazing charity Notodogmeat , who are fighting against the horrific slaughter of animals for food, fur, and ‘traditional’ medicine. They rescue dogs and cats that are destined for the meat trade, giving them a second chance at life. The adorable pup pictured on the floor, is one of the lucky ones who was rescued and is now in a loving home. 🐶💕

🐾Top Tip 🐾 - if you ever visit Crufts I recommend the Discover Dogs area its a great place to see so many different dog breeds up close. If you're thinking of getting a new dog and not sure what breed to get then you can see the different dogs and discuss the breeds with the people that know all about them.

Every day, I get to spend time with your lovely dogs—what's not to love? I love seeing how they grow in confidence and trust over time it’s such a rewarding experience, from little puppies through to senior dogs. I’m a creative person at heart, and grooming allows me to indulge in my craft. I love making every dog look and more importantly, feel their best.

Here's something you might not know about me:
✨Before becoming a dog groomer, I worked in IT as a software developer and later moved into management. It was a completely different world, but my love for animals was always there.
When I got my own dogs, I discovered my love of dog grooming, and Vanity Fur VIP was born, and I can honestly say that I've never looked back!
✨I'm not only a qualified Groomer. I’m a Taking the Grrr Out of Grooming Your Dog - Approved Groomer, which means I use a consent-based approach to ensure that every dog’s grooming experience is as calm and stress-free as possible.
✨I’m also a qualified Yoga teacher, and I bring that calm, meditative energy to every grooming session.
✨My two dogs are my world—I love taking them for walks and spending time with them. You'll often see me in a café as they will have dragged me in there (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!)😂
